After testing out the illusion, explore the site to learn more about the effect.

What is an afterimage?

Afterimages are visual sensations that persist after the removal of the original stimulus. They can be categorized into positive afterimages, which retain the same color and brightness as the original stimulus, and negative afterimages, which appear as inverted colors or lightness levels. This interactive site aims to demonstrate and explain negative afterimages.
