When you're ready, click the Start button under the image and stare at the white dot on the bridge of the person's nose.
Continue to stare at the dot until the image disappears, at which point you'll see the afterimage! (Can you tell who this person is?)
After testing out the illusion, explore the site to learn more about the effect.
What is an afterimage?
Afterimages are visual sensations that persist after the removal of the original stimulus. They can be categorized into positive afterimages, which retain the same color and brightness as the original stimulus, and negative afterimages, which appear as inverted colors or lightness levels. This interactive site aims to demonstrate and explain negative afterimages.
